Buzzing to be back – Las Cicadas, Ibiza
It hard to sum up my emotions going into Millie and Nathan’s wedding day. I felt excitement with a sizeable, side-serving of relief; as after two summer seasons without wedding gigs to plan and perform for, finally, I was back and ready to demonstrate what Fonoteca can do.
The Date : June 11th 2022
The Couple : Millie & Nathan
The Venue : Las Cicadas, Santa Gertrudis, Ibiza
I was contacted by Ruth Alexander Weddings in the winter of 2021 to provide a full-day program of music and performances, at the sublime location of Las Cicadas, in Santa Gertrudis. Millie and Nathan clearly adored their music and were looking for a ceremony singer, a live performance for the canapés, a playlist for the dinner and a band to open the party celebration.
After providing a list of suggestions they opted for Imane Jade to sing and play acoustic guitar for both the ceremony and canapés. For the band, they wanted a saxophonist so Deva on Sax was booked to play alongside Imane, and yours truly on the decks.
As the summer drew closer, and our planned rehearsals went well, a new coincidental factor was thrown into the mix. I’d been contracted at the start of the season to assist a catering company with their event logistics, and as it happened they were the exclusive caterers for events at Las Cicadas that summer. That meant, on the day, not only would I be managing the musical program but I was also responsible for the catering logistics!

Suffice to say it was a hard days work, but such a rewarding one. As I drove home at the end of the night, I did so filled with an immense feeling of achievement, and despite being rather tired I had another early start in the morning, and another full-on day ahead.
Fast forward 48 hours or so – on the Sunday night when my weekend’s work was done – I decided to go to the Pyramid party at Amnesia with some friends, and who did I bump into? Of course… it was Nathan, and a group of his friends who were making the most of their Ibiza ‘vacation’. Soon after that I was chatting with Millie as well, reminiscing over their wedding day experience. Completely unexpected, but more than welcome, their kind words and appreciation meant the world to me.
There is a very good reason I have spent most of my life involved in musical events, DJing and putting on parties, and simply put: because I love to make people happy; it’s not just a fundamental part of my personality, but it’s become a standard of my business Fonoteca, and a measure of it’s success.
It was such a long, and difficult journey through the COVID years, and I will always remember this wedding and that day with great fondness, because then I knew that Fonoteca had survived the tough times, and when called upon it came back with a beautifully Big Bang!
Fonoteca did a fantastic job of listening to our brief and then delivering it smoothly on the day. The music was perfect and created the exact vibe we were looking for, with Ian on the decks accompanied by the wonderful Imane on vocals and Deva on sax.
The flow of the day was ideal and went hand in hand with the amazing food and catering that was provided. Can’t recommend enough!
